5 Question Interview @LoveThisLifeAuthentically
1.) Tell me about your personal journey with yoga. Why is it important to you?
Yoga is a sacred dance with my true self. Yoga is my offering and my therapy. As a new Mother, I found myself giving to the point of exhaustion and it wasn’t until I began my inward Journey that I saw my worth. I saw my strength and was witness to the infinite source that was guiding me. Yoga is sacred because it brought me closer to the Creator and allows me to continue to nurture the infinite source with win me.
2.) When did you first begin teaching yoga? What made you transition into a leadership position?
I began teaching children’s yoga in February 2014
I have always been one to gravitate to Leadership positions in general, but I decided to teach mainly because I saw such a transformation in my own kids. When Dave Kemp and I created our Music+Movement class 2 years ago we were given an amazing opportunity to add so much enrichment to our Organization Plant Powered Kids. Our vision 4 years ago has manifested into an amazing partnership with The San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum in Escondido, Ca. The museum has really welcomed my input in the formation and co-creation of the Yoga/Mindfulness program.
In December of 2015 I earned my 200hr from White Peacock Yoga Studio under my teacher and mentor Audrey Sarquilla. I embarked on this journey mainly because I had been suffering from Post Partum Depression and needed to find freedom and healing. I needed to love myself radically and I needed to find joy in motherhood again. My heart opened up to a need for sisterhood and my passion to teach and encourage other mothers was bubbling under the surface.
3.) What makes your classes unique?
My classes are unique because my leadership qualities sometimes need to be put on the back burner and I allow children in the class to teach me and the other children. I encourage the sharing of knowledge no matter the source. I focus my yoga stewardship towards helping children find healing through all vibrational avenues. We explore the senses through sound healing, color therapy, breathing techniques, and guided meditation. I believe that a team of amazing creative people will produce the wonders of the future, so my passion is introducing children to experiences such as, singing bowls, color breathing and visualization. I honestly believe that these classes will leave a lasting impression on the importance of self care and playfulness.
4.) How does music benefit your guidance in a yoga class?
Music+Movement features live music in all of its classes, and also provides hands on musical experiences such a drumming and a variety of percussion instruments from around the world. Music is medicine! Movement is Medicine! The benefit is Self Healing and learning to nurture your needs. The music helps us all find a commonality and a rhythm that feels authentic and fun of course!
