5Q Interview @San_Diego_HikYoga
1.) Tell me about your personal journey with yoga. Why is it important to you?
Yoga is my moving meditation. I am a proprioceptive junky who loves working out. I first found yoga, 6.5 years ago when I was living in Rochester, New York, as a way to balance my endurance workouts and keep my mind calm. Now, Yoga is so much more to me than when I first discovered it. It is my scared time and every time I practice or teach, I feel myself getting more aligned with who I am and why I am here.
2.) When did you first begin teaching yoga? What made you transition into a leadership position?
I obtained my 200 hour certification from Prana Yoga Studio in La Jolla in May of 2016. I had just moved across the country that previous August, and with that major transition, I decided to keep on crossing items off my bucket list and take the leap to obtain my certification. I had known for over two years that I wanted to take my practice to the next level, so it was all very easy, exciting, and terrifying when I signed up for the program.
3.) What makes your classes unique?
Hikyoga is about taking yoga outdoors. It is a blend of hiking and yoga that helps people get outside and enjoy the benefits of nature, while getting a chance to practice yoga. It is especially popular for those individuals who may be intimidated by a yoga studio. Even though I now live in sunny San Diego, I still find myself doing the daily grind and not enjoying the amazing scenery San Diego has to offer.
4.) How does music benefit your guidance in a yoga class?
I love music, especially when it has a good beat where my body can just find the rhythm to the music all by itself.
Hikyoga outdoor classes don’t use music, but whenever I hold an indoor event, you will be certain there will be music playing! And now, I can incorporate Nameless Energy into my playlist!
5.) Tell me about your next event and where we can follow you online.
You can visit: www.hikyoga.com for all the events throughout the country, but the next two San Diego Hikyoga events are listed below:
