5Q Interview with Lindsay Jay @lindsayjay_loves
1. Tell me about your personal journey with yoga. Why is it important to you?
Why Yoga? It brings me peace. The sentence below is the meaning of ‘namaste’ and it sums up the reason I practice yoga:
‘I honour the place in me where the entire universe dwells, I honour the place in me that is of truth, love, light and peace. When I am in that place in me and you are in the place in you – we are one.’
How beautiful is that?! The feeling yoga gives me is pure bliss. It helps me bring my awareness to my breath, takes me out of my head and into my heart space so I can connect with my intuition and soul. There are so many types and styles of yoga that are all so different so it’s important that if you are new to it, don’t give up if you don’t enjoy it on your first class, persevere and find the teacher and style that are right for you. I am so proud of what we have managed to create at our retreats and in our videos, as we have many different styles and teachers so you can try them all and find the one that’s best for you. From strong Ashtanga to relaxing Yin Sound Baths and from Kundalini to laughing yoga!
If you would like to try a little Vinyasa class with me check out the ‘Wake Up I Love You’ playlist on my youtube channel.
2. When did you first begin teaching yoga? What made you transition into a leadership position?
I have been teaching all types of yoga, meditation, dance, tai chi, and fitness for 11 years and have been presenting internationally for 7 years. I started running retreats because I saw that there were many exclusive retreats but not many that were totally inclusive. Our retreats are there for everyone and we even offer discounts for key workers.
3. What makes your classes unique?
I like people to feel loved in my classes. I use Tibetan singing bowls on their bodies to open and balance their chakras, essential oils to relax and connect them to their breath and hands-on assists and integrated energy therapy (IET) to help deepen the experience.
4. How does music benefit your guidance in a yoga class?
Music is the best heart opener in the world and will feature in some way in every single class I teach. It heightens the class experience by motivating and inspiring us, by evoking emotions and taking us out of our heads and into our hearts.
5. Tell me about your next event and where we can follow you online.
My next retreat is October 14th to the 21st 2018, for information check out YogaFitRetreats.com. Or if you would like to do a class with me online please check out my YouTube channel, Lindsay Jay Fitness.
