Interview Om Hana Yoga @EclipsedSunshine
1.) Tell me about your personal journey with yoga. Why is it important to you?
I began yoga looking for a way to workout. As I began attending classes I practiced the 8 limbs of yoga which the teachers were talking about, the practices and easily applicable lifestyle shifts that I could make to be at peace with myself and others. Once I shifted into the yogic lifestyle I became grounded, centered and in love with who I am. I accepted the universes guidance to share yoga as a lifestyle with people around me for those seeking more. I continue to hold space for people to love who they are, understand the way the mind, body, and spirit work together. It is important to me that we return to the source of our being, we connect with who we are, why we are here, and what our purpose is. My mission is to assists spirit with the process of awakening, guiding people from darkness to light, and honoring where everyone is at on their journey.
2.) When did you first begin teaching yoga? What made you transition into a leadership position?
I began teaching yoga in 2012, certified with CPY 200 HR Power TT, Yoga Sculpt and 300Hr in Peru with Kula Collective. My practice is daily in all aspects of life, everything is a teacher and I have transitioned into a leadership position to inspire and be of service to our community and humanity as I accept my Dharma.
3.) What makes your classes unique?
4.) How does music benefit your guidance in a yoga class?
4. Music helps people be present. It gives them the ability to label the sounds as music and therefore they feel comfortable able to receive what we are offering them. Music also holds space for people to go deeper into their subconscious and to allow for the wisdom within them to unfold. That is what were doing..asking or guiding people into a place where they have all the answers to their questions, we are simply catalyst for their journey or guides to show them a way. Music aids in setting the mood, rhythm, tone and pace, key in a yoga especially when dealing with the pace of breath. I typically use music without words, sound healing music (certain vibrations, chanting, mantras, shamanic icaros and more) Music benefits class so everyone is experiencing the same thing with their own interpretations of it!
