1. Tell me about your personal journey with yoga. Why is it important to you?
Initially, my yoga journey started with an emphasis on physical transformation—to be more slender, flexibile, and toned. After a while, the yoga started working its magic on me and my intention for practice shifted from a physical desire to a more conscious and internal transformation. Now, my yoga practice is integrated into my daily being, and to me, living my yoga is the most important transformation in my ongoing journey.
2. When did you first begin teaching yoga? What made you transition into a leadership position?
I first started contemplating the idea of teaching yoga soon after graduating from university, however, I felt like I still needed more schooling. Upon enrolling in a yoga teacher training program, I was not passionate about being in front of the group and leading others through yoga. I was there for Self-exploration and a deeper connection to my own practice. The very first class I ever taught was at a local fundraiser, and although I didn’t make any money, the experience alone was worth it. At that moment, I caught the teacher bug!
3. What makes your classes unique?
The classes I tend to host the most place emphasis on the true meaning of yoga: the union between the mind, the body, and the spirit. With a 200-hour registered yoga teacher training in Classical Yoga philosophies and practices, my classes touch upon the importance of conscious breathing, meditation methods, and glimpses of a deeper connection to yourself and the universe.
4. How does music benefit your guidance in a yoga class?
Music in a yoga class creates an ambiance of melody and vibration that I think is essential to creating a holistic experience. Music has the unique ability to connect people and deepen internal reflection. It creates a safe space for the mind to wandering and get lost in.
5. Tell me about your next event and where we can follow you online.
Currently I am hosting classes throughout the Seacoast of New Hampshire and Maine, with outdoor classes, yoga hikes, and yoga camping trips coming this summer. My presence can be seen on Instagram @dannikaross or my business page @exhalationsyoga.
