1. Tell me about your personal journey with yoga. Why is it important to you?
I started going to yoga classes when I was working as a graphic designer in NYC. After sitting in a chair at a computer most of the day and having scoliosis, Yoga was a wonderful physical release, a relief fo me at the end of the day. The physical practice developed into so much more on a deeper, internal, spiritual level. I completed my Kundalini Yoga 200hr training in 2005. In 2008, I completed my Vinyasa Yoga training with YogaWorks in NYC. I did these when my children were very young. I just completed my 300hr YogaWorks training in July 2018 and am happy to be a RYT500 Vinyasa Yoga Instructor. I’m so grateful Yoga is part of my life and I have the opportunity to share and teach others this beautiful practice. It keeps me grounded, present, and strong in mind and body.
2. When did you first begin teaching yoga? What made you transition into a leadership position?
I began teaching Kundalini Yoga in 2005. In 2008, I began teaching Vinyasa Yoga. I love each style for different reasons. My primary teaching now is Vinyasa Yoga. I love the strengthening flow with breath and movement, aligning with authenticity and grace.
I transitioned into a leadership role of teaching in 2016, when we moved from NYC to my home state of Montana. I tapped into my roots and my authentic voice. I bring love and compassion to every class. I believe everyone can tap into their full potential with strength and courage practicing Yoga. As a teacher, I help create a safe space for each individual to experience their journey with inspiration.
3. What makes your classes unique?
My emphasis in each class is alignment and breath, with intelligent, creative sequencing. Expect to be challenged, but also have fun!
4. How does music benefit your guidance in a yoga class?
I always play music in my classes, it helps set the tone and is a great addition to a flowing class with focus, energy, and even relaxing in savasana. Music helps open the yoga path with ease and freedom of movement.
