5 Questions With
Dawn Marie
1.) Tell me about your personal journey with yoga. Why is it important to you?
I dabbled in yoga here and there from my late teens into my early-mid twenties. I did Bikram and Ashtanga, yet where I went to college I ceased to find any studios I felt home in. So my yoga stopped until I moved back to Orange County where I won a free month to a new local hot power yoga studio. I fell deeply in love and almost instantly I knew I was meant to become a yoga teacher. I then, synchronistically, was approached by my instructor after class one day about doing a teacher training. Three days later, I was sitting in my first class to become a yoga teacher. All I can really and truly say is that the Yoga got to me. It took me and I have been on its wave ever since. The wave to me is self-discovery in one of the most loving and deeply intimate ways. There is so much silence and so much action within all parts of the 8 yogic limbs: Ashtang. And each limb re-surfaces into my life on a continual basis. I am in Love.
2.) When did you first begin teaching yoga? What made you transition into a leadership position?
I began teaching five years ago. I knew being a teacher is where I belonged. It is what my heart desired.
3.) What makes your classes unique?
I teach from my intuition, firstly. I am as fresh as the students who are in there, I have no idea where we are going in class and I am learning just like everyone else is. I also integrate many forms of yoga, meditation and deeper wisdoms and truth that seem to naturally channel out during class. I also sing and use energy healing in my classes too. Beyond all of these things, I honestly believe I act as a conduit and so each class is literally an experience that I am experiencing as well. Spirit is simply acting through me.
4.) How does music benefit your guidance in a yoga class?
Music resonates my heart and my intentions to that of pure love, joy and deeper learnings. The music honestly attunes my Be-ing so that I am in alignment, and this is the inner place I am teaching from.
5.) Tell me about your radio show and where we can follow you online.
My radio show is called the “Dawn of Choice” show. What I emphasize is the Power of Choice. We always have a choice in each and every moment and it is up to us if we choose reflections of Love or otherwise. I have many amazing beings come onto the show to be interviewed as well. Each person who comes on lives the high vibration that they speak of, and that is what I love. The true purpose of the show and really all of what I do, in my many expressions is to help raise the vibration of myself and all of those who I come into contact with, in some way or another. We are all in this together, and I honestly love it that way.
The show airs live on Tuesdays at 2pm PST and repeats throughout the week three more times. Also, old shows may be heard on my archive for 3 months after the shows air.
