5 Question Interview with Michael Paige @P8ige808
Tell me about your personal journey with Yoga. Why is it important to you?
I found yoga back in the East Coast after I injured my back playing basketball. After being down and out for a couple weeks, a friend mentioned yoga and being depressed from the injury I finally listened. Although that first class (bikram) may have been the hardest hour and a half of slow movement I’ve ever done in my life, I was able to move and sit more comfortably. I continued going to that location for the remainder of the month and once healed enough returned to basketball.
Yoga is important to me because it allowed me to switch from the paradigm that getting in shape has to be at blunt force speed and harsh on the mind and body. Yoga continues to test me around slowing down, allowing breath to anchor and guide me through the postures and to love myself through the process of finding my inner golden Buddha. When did you first begin teaching yoga? What made you transition into a leadership position?
I first started teaching yoga shortly after my teacher training in November. It was for four employees at Prana who showed up for their lunch workouts provided by their awesome company. I was nervous but with a small class plus freedom to teach whatever I wanted, I completed the class with happy and blissed out faces. I still remember them shocked when I said that was my very first class. That experience solidified and catapulted my passion to teach yoga.
I have always felt comfortable in the leadership role growing up. Having people rely on me for the next step, for the game winning shot and inspiring someone to lead who may not feel comfortable in that role feels natural. I love the many different leadership styles and the maneuverability of showing up with the one that coincides best for the circumstance.
What makes your classes unique?
Since I moved here to Carlsbad in the last two years I have gone through a cataclysmic upgrade spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically. In the beginning of my journey, most of that was by myself. I had to put in the countless hours of self-love work to release limiting beliefs and doubts of the potential burning inside me. Through the process of yoga teacher training, the Raindrop Technique, NLP, healing energy classes, crystal, essential oils, self-development, community and connection classes and much more, I stand before you. What you get out of my classes is more than just postures and breath cues. You get the dedication, the blood, sweat, tears and the process of a sword being forged through fire that I have gone through. You get inspiration and motivation, passion and presence, you get me showing up and playing full out.
How does music benefit your guidance in a yoga class?
I love the practice of yoga, the peaceful stillness that finally washes over our vortexing minds as we find the yoga mat. Music has a way of connecting us so deep and so fast into the present moment. I love combining yoga with music as it vibrates through the air, tethers to our soul as we release stories, baggage and barriers to the truest version of ourselves. In my yoga classes, music transcends the practice of elevating awareness, pushing just past your edge while also slowing down and blasting out of your body. It’s a beautiful dance, an ebb and flow of effort and allowance.

My most recent and life transforming passion has been healing and sharing my passion of the Raindrop Technique. With my spinal injuries in the past from basketball, snowboarding and jumping off things like a gorilla growing up, I was really hurting and looking for relief from the pinched L4 and L5 disks in my back. I am so fortunate to have stumbled upon a conversation over a year ago about the Raindrop technique which lengthens and strengthens, removes the viruses and bacteria from the spine and balances the mental, emotional and physical bodies among countless other benefits. After receiving my first healing session I was finally able to fall asleep and feel the blissful radiance of a happy and healthier spine. I now am dubbed “Rainman” in the community as this month I will be hitting my 200th Raindrop in the last year. I incorporate breath work, meditation, inversion table, crystal bowls and so much more in our healing sessions. I want to share and give people the awareness that they don’t have to be in constant pain. There is relief and I am here to share my passion with you.
