5 Question Interview @KristinLovettYoga
1.) Tell me about your personal journey with yoga. Why is it important to you? When did you first begin teaching yoga?
I discovered yoga in 1999 in the small town of Ashland Oregon, where I was living at the
time. It instantly transformed my life. The power of breathing and staying present along asana was exactly what I was looking for in my life. It made me feel more alive then I felt in many years. At the exact same time I discovered surfing along the beautiful coast of California/Oregon borderline. The wild majestic cold water sea made me strive to become a good surfer. Surfing also gave me the tools of living in the now and strength of body and mind. I quickly moved to the coast where I surfed every day and started teaching yoga in a small fitness center. The love of movement pushed me to seek evolvement. So during my travels to Southern California I discovered North County San Diego. The plethora of warm waves and yoga. In this place I now call home I’ve been able to expand my education as a teacher and come in contact with some of the greatest humans in the world. Thanks to these teachers..my personal practice and my teachings become greater day by day. Living yoga off the mat has really taken play recently in my life. I am a mother. Giving birth to my little girl almost 7 months ago. She is the most gorgeous gift of love. Thanks to yoga I can appreciate her completely with every breathe I take, I can feel every sensation of the sea as I paddle through it and enjoy the time I spend on my mat in more depth and gratitude. Yoga is the practice of love we give to ourselves and with that we can greater serve others in our lives. Yoga is changing the world to a better place.
3.) What makes your classes unique?
My classes being unique…hmmm?! Well..there is only one KLove!! I would say I’m a combination of kindness, pure power, keeping it real and a dash of humor. I love the body and how it works. However I’m not about to take it too serious! I love to make people smile while they hold and breathe in a pose. Opportunity to feel alive and enjoy every second of it!!!
4.) How does music benefit your guidance in a yoga class?
Music is an amazing tool to help students dive deeper into their practice. Whether it’s a mellow class or a power class. Good tunes can transform any experience. With a mellow class it can soften and relax. Help release tension built in the body. With a power or fitness class it can energize and create motivation. I love music that inspires me to focus, breathe, smile, dig deep and/or let go!
5.) Tell me about your next events and where we can follow you online.
