Monday Mantra for October 16, 2017:
“Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha”
Translation:
Om: The sound of the Eternal Universe
Tare: To evoke the Divine essence of Tara
Tuttare: Liberation from the eight fears*
Ture: Liberation from the disease of suffering
Soha: To “Hail!” to the Divine presence of Tara within oneself
Known as the “Mother of Liberation”, Tara is an enlightened Buddhist deity, or Bodhisattva, who embodies Divine mercy and action. Tara also represents the feminine aspect of the Universe, and her essence is manifested in 21 different forms according to the teachings of Mahayana Buddhism. In reciting this particular Mantra, one evokes the Green Tara, who is the feminine embodiment of peace and directed action. In awakening the spirit of the Green Tara, one receives protection from the eight fears which plague all humans.

- Envy
- Hatred
- Doubt
- Greed
- Delusion
In order to liberate oneself from the eight internal fears which create suffering and disease, one must cultivate self compassion and balance in life. All humans feed into these fears to some degree, and it is important to recognize when a fear begins to significantly impact our life in a negative manner. Through maintaining awareness of the present moment and by continually checking in with oneself throughout the day, we can learn to identify the fearful thoughts and patterns which cause suffering in life. Recite “Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha” to cultivate the peaceful and protective spirit of Green Tara within oneself.
