Canada’s four-day Emerge Festival (June 29-July 2) is a global conscious movement phenomenon where more than 80 of the world’s most renowned yoga and meditation instructors, musicians and speakers gather each summer on a scenic 200-acre Ottowa Valley Ranch near Pembroke. Surrounded by deep ancient forest, thousands of yoginis and bliss seekers gather to attend nearly 150 classes, workshops, concerts. Emerge Festival not only provides several choices for accommodations from camping to glamping to boutique hotels, but also contains a health and wellness village with more than 85 vendors selling locally-source organic free-range food, wares by regional artists, Whitewater Brewing Company beer and Savvy Company wines. DTO will be in good company at Emerge Festival 2017 as this conscious movement event features a roster of the world’s most popular conscious bands, singers and musical personalities. However, DTO rocks live music during yoga classes like no other as he intuitively works with the yoga instructor and the group’s energy flow to play the perfect sounds on his keyboard, acoustic guitar, harmonium or synthesizer. He also weaves songs from his Nameless Energy album into his yoga class accompaniments.
“Infusing high-vibrational music into your life creates inspiration and a deep spiritual connection,” says Kemp, who resides in San Diego and teaches Spanish at technology magnet Bonsall High School. Kemp is also a four-time award-winning music producer. In 2015, Kemp and Andrea Sáenz received an award of merit for their Dolce Ardor: An Opera Music Video.
While performing music live during a yoga class, Kemp says he brings his many years as a musician, composer, teacher and yoga instructor plus his full 88-key digital keyboard, a harmonium and his own sophisticated sound system. “My first experience in a yoga-plus-live music experience was so profound that it awakened me to my life’s purpose and I want this blissful feeling for everyone,” says Kemp, who wears his guitar on his back on a custom-made leather over-the-shoulder hemp strap.
For Nameless Energy’s 15 soul-lifting tracks, Kemp also collaborated with some of San Diego’s brightest “conscious music” stars such as Buddha Music Group’s Kiyoshi as well as Krista Richards, Aja Lee, Tara Devi, Jamie Shadowlight, Christy Rose and Zoe Sol.
Recommended by Deepak Chopra himself, Kemp’s 15-song Nameless Energy (available on Spotify, iTunes and BandCamp) is a sensual-meets-Sanskrit hybrid of multi-instrument acoustics, electronic sounds, mantras and uplifting lyrics to inspire any yoga experience into a vibration-raising awakening for the soul.

“There is nothing more awakening than having live music during yoga and working with DTO is a mystical treat,” says Hemalayaa, who partners with DTO frequently for the duo’s Turn It Up! ecstatic dance events. “DTO’s music inspires a deep connection to self as well as connection with community,” she says.
Hemalayya -says their Turn It Up! experiences “invigorate and energize the brilliance of your purpose.” She salso says DTO’s Nameless Energy album “guides yogis through a musical heart-connected journey with an Eastern and Western infusion of sounds that is awe-inspiring for the body, mind and soul.” Hemalayaa has her own BollyBlast TV show and been featured on Ellen and The Today Show as well as the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Yoga Journal, Shape and Origin.
In addition to his musical and teaching talents, Kemp is also the visionary behind Plant Powered Living (www.PlantPoweredLiving.com) and Plant Powered Kids (@PlantPoweredKids), which encourages families to cook and serve healthy vegetarian-based meals through music and movement classes, workshops and other programs such as kid-friendly farmer’s market walking tours and cooking demonstrations. Ten percent of all Nameless Energy proceeds is donated to Plant Powered Kids programming.
